The Girls Health website offers information about health, growing up, and articles and discussion about issues they face during their teen years. Appropriate for ages 10-16 the positive, supportive, and non-threatening messages motivate young ladies to choose healthy behaviors. A section for teachers is also provided with fact sheets and website resources for the students to have access too. One weakness is that readers can post on this website which makes there words available for everyone to see.
The Kids Health website offers information you can trust about kids and teens that's free of "doctor speak." Created for 3rd grade and up there is advice, perspective, and comfort provided about a wide range of physical, emotional, and behavioral issues that affect children and teens. There is also a weekly newsletter. One additional feature is that this website can be accessed in the Spanish language.
Peer to Peer was created to support the implementation of the Stop, Think, Be Safe Intervention. Aimed for youth ages 12-15 this site offers information about STDs and effective strategies for prevention to youth, parents, and teachers. One drawback is the research link is mainly linked writings, articles, and information from authors and organizations; it is a lacking in statistics that back up the statements.
Everything to Do with Being a Kid is a place to find fun stuff about kids. The focus is on family, body, food, health, school, feelings, safety, nearly teens, simply for you, and fun and games. Simply click on health and then childrens health. Drawback is that the site is more geared for adults than children.
Health Topics for younger kids is the focus of this site. Geared for children between the ages of 6-12 years this site offers understandable information mixed with illustrations and poetry of children that relate to the subject. One drawback is that the articles are pretty large for small children to be interested in.
