Earth Science for Kids Only is a website created by NASA that aims for students and teachers. It is both educational and fun. There is information, games, links to explore, teacher guides, and articles to read. Younger children might need a helper through some of the content.
Looking at Waterways is interesting when you find resources that connect students to science that they can see and experience. There are Videos, Interactive Explorations, and Interactive Videos to engage students and encourage them to explore on their own with help from an adult. Appropriate for students k-7th grades.
Physical Geography is a website geared for students about 4th grade and up. This site has an introduction to the earth sciences that has a plethora of information about the Earth structure, atmosphere, hydrosphere biosphere, BGC cycles and climates. This would be a great research tool.
If Earthquakes interest you, this website is for you. There is information about the latest earthquakes, learning links, earthquake activities, animations, puzzles and games, science fair project ideas, cool earthquake facts, pictures, articles, and the science of earthquakes. There is even a link where you can talk to a real geologist. This website is appropriate for older elementary through junior high students.
National atlas provides an interactive map making activity where the viewer can select the and create their own atlas of the United States. It would be appropriate for middle school and up. Some scaffolding may be required if students are not familiar with mapping. One drawback is that this is the only interactive tool available. There is also printable information and already programmed maps that can be viewed or printed out.
